ANC’s Elective Conference is around the corner and while the party delegates are still in process of deciding their new leader, ANC presidential candidate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has been conferred a lifetime achievement award at the Women Political Leaders Global Forum (WPL). Dlamini-Zuma received the award as an honorable acknowledgement for her work as African Union Commission chairperson from 2012 to 2017. She was awarded the same in a summit held by a global network of female politicians, WPL. The Summit Commenced on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Moreover, NDZ has expressed her gratitude and feeling of being honored by the WPL. In her words, “I am supremely honored. Thank you to the World Political Leaders Global Forum, this award has inspired me immensely. I will continue to work harder to push down barriers of Women’s emancipation and empowerment”. WPL is a forum which is said to be working on a mission to increase both the number as well as the influence of women in political leadership positions, as per the Organization’s official statement. ANC has also issued a statement to celebrate this achievement by their reputed member. “Comrade Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is well-deserving of this honor. She has dedicated her life to the service of our people. She is and remains an exemplary leader and inspiration not only to women leaders but to all progressive forces committed to clean governance, visionary leadership and an uncompromising commitment to bettering the lives of our people”.
She has been further quoted by ANC as a selfless freedom fighter and the first woman in five decades to lead the AU Commission. As per the party, “She headed the AU in the best regards possible at the time of the adoption of the AU’s 50-year strategic plan, known as Agenda 2063. This can certainly be taken as a big feather in her capwhile considering her to be the first women President for ANC. Moreover, as per the recent reports, she is expected to lead branch nominations in the provinces of the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and the North West, all of which are still to hold their provincial general councils (PGCs).
